THE LOW AREA WATERS

Four stops, nature reserves, the Ducal Palace of Colorno, water systems to deepen the relation with water: element to be protected, in the Nature Reserve of Torrile and Trecasali, gorgeous decoration in the Ducal Palace of Colorno, or force to be governed.

The route between nature and industrial architecture starts from the Nature Reserve of Torrile and Trecasali, goes across the Ducal Palace of Colorno, built as a fort and transformed into a residence by the Farnese dukes (the pipelines of its fountains were destroyed in the middle of the XVIII century and never reactivated) and the Municipality of Mezzani. The journey ends at the Drainage System of Mezzani, built in the early 1900s and modernized in the 30s, with the introduction of two centrifugal pumps still fully functional.
