THE VOTIVE BASIN OF NOCETO

Guided tour of the Votive Basin Museum in Noceto (Parma), archaeological "unicum" at European level that dates back to the Middle Bronze Age.

The tour, guided by an archaeologist, is enriched by multimedia exhibition spaces where the natural settings of the Bronze Age have been recreated to emotionally involve the visitor.

The wooden tank, contained within a cavity over 4 metres deep, was originally filled with water and constantly fed by the local terramaricoli (i.e. the population of the terramare sites from the Bronze Age). The discovery of more than a hundred artefacts - including ploughs, vases, figurines and axes - carefully arranged on the bottom testifies to the ritual function of the Basin.
