NOCETO VOTIVE TANK MUSEUM

Guided tour of the Noceto Votive Tank Museum (Parma), archaeological "unicum" at European level incidentally found in Noceto in 2005 and now on display in the Francesco Barocelli Museum Centre.

The wooden tank, dated back to the Middle Bronze Age and contained within a cavity over 3 metres deep (result of extraordinary design skills), was originally filled with water and constantly fed by the local terramaricoli (i.e. the population of the terramare sites from the Bronze Age). The discovery of more than a hundred artefacts - including ploughs, vases, figurines and baskets - carefully arranged on the bottom testifies to the ritual function of the Basin.

The tour, guided by an archaeologist, is enriched by multimedia exhibition spaces where the natural settings of the Bronze Age have been recreated to emotionally involve the visitor.
